Rolling land and steep hills with elevation range of 400m (3hr), and 600m (6hr)

Vegetation is a mix of open grassland/tussock, scrub, and beech forest, and a small amount of urban parks/reserves/streets.

A variety of foot and vehicle tracks and historic dry water races provide easy access into otherwise rugged terrain.

The map will be derived from Topo50 (the NZ standard topographic map with 20m contours), but with many improvements to accuracy, and an enlarged scale. It will be pre-marked with checkpoint sites and out of bounds areas. Map size: A4. Scale will be notified closer to the event.

*All entrants will receive full colour printed maps in a water proof zip lock bag.
